Cheesman Park

Cheesman Park began as Mount Prospect Cemetery in 1858, and on January 25, 1890, Congress agreed to turn the grounds into parkland; the work of moving graves began in 1893. The widow and children of Walter Scott Cheesman donated $100,000 for the park pavilion that gave the park its name, and the Denver Botanic Gardens were dedicated next door in 1966.
